Wellcome has just opened its new 50,000 sq ft concept store called Wellcome Fresh in Sai Wan! With over 15,000 items spread across 23 zones, you’ll never dread the weekly grocery shop again.
Wellcome Fresh is Hong Kong’s largest supermarket and is intended to “combine the style and atmosphere of a wet market with the convenience and services of a supermarket.” You’ll find plenty of fresh grocery items and ingredients from around the world, from meat and wine, to local produce and seafood, all at reasonable prices.
23 Zones at Wellcome Fresh
The zones you can explore in the concept store include Food Street, where you’ll find a variety of ready-to-eat local and international delicacies, including egg rolls, pineapple croissants, pei pa duck and typhoon shelter fried crabs and a seafood section, whose resident chef can cook your selections to your preference.
There is also a vegetarian zone, noodle zone, a baking supplies zone, a $10 specials zone, a pet zone and more.
At Wellcome’s newest concept store in Sai Wan, you’ll also find an assortment of wine from around the world.
Embracing Eco-Friendliness
The concept store has also incorporated environmentally-friendly aspects into its design. The red floor, made of used glass and mirrors, uses energy-efficient LED lights, trolleys are made from recycled plastics, the countertops used by the bakery, Food Street and florist are made using recycled glass bottles, most of the produce is sold without packaging to reduce waste and there are exclusive reusable Wellcome Fresh shopping bags.
