Busma Butt shares her son’s experience at the Inclusive Playground in Tuen Mun Park. It is a playground in the park and is, in her opinion, by far the best playground she has been to in Hong Kong.

The inclusive playground in Tuen Muen Park is made up of a Southern and Northern portion and boasts seven play zones. It is the first barrier-free play area for children in Hong Kong. The layout of the playground and its play components are specifically designed for children with different physical abilities, including wheelchair users.

The Northern Portion is designed as a Water Lily Park and has a water play area, providing flower-shaped splash pads and water cascade. There is also spinning plates and a trampoline for balance practice. The Musical Zone has giant musical instruments such as chimes and drums.

The Southern Portion has four zones under the concept of “Reptile Fun”. There is a sand pit and a sand play table, a climbing tower and nets of different heights and difficulty levels, plus plenty of slides. The Spinning Zone and the Sensory Zone offers various types of swaying and spinning play equipment, sensory walls and other tactile movable parts.

There is also an excellent swing area.

    Note:

    • Bring extra clothes to change if you are planning to let your kids play in the sand and water areas
    • Bring your own buckets and spades to play in the sand area
    • Toilets are quite dirty and very wet (flushes were all broken on the day Busma visited) There are clean toilets in the shopping mall (called V City) next to the park (around 10 mins walk).

    Tuen Mun Playground

Address: Tuen Mun Heung Sze Wui Road, Tuen Mun

How to get there: I took the MTR. I got off at Tuen Mun MTR station Exit B and the park is just right next to it. But the playground is a bit further in the park (about 10 mins walk).
