    Be transported to an enchanting secret garden nestled in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. This  highly acclaimed multisensory art exhibition from Japan is making its mark in Hong Kong for a period of six months.

    As you step into the exhibition at 1881 Heritage, you’ll be greeted by the mesmerising 5-metre-tall “NAKED BIG BOOK,” a larger-than-life creation that combines technology and art to create an awe-inspiring visual spectacle. It’s a perfect introduction to the world of NAKED FLOWERS. Throughout the exhibition you’ll have the opportunity to explore eight areas, each offering a distinct artistic encounter and carefully crafted to provide a variety of experiences, ensuring that there’s something to captivate and engage visitors of all ages. Stroll along the “FLOWER PATH,” through a garden bursting with vibrant blooms, each petal inviting you to touch and interact with it. Pass through a kaleidoscope-like space with mirrors that rotate in all directions to reflect digital art – zoom in on the flowers and a mysterious world of cells will open up. In the enchanting “DIGITAL FLOWER GARDEN” you’ll find yourself surrounded by a digital wonderland of flowers in a space  meticulously designed to resemble a breathtaking garden, complete with the delicate scent of the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria collection lingering in the air.

    The creative genius behind NAKED FLOWERS is Mr. Ryotaro Muramatsu, a highly acclaimed Japanese artist whose remarkable career spans film, television, music videos, and spatial presentations.

    Floating Book Fair Hong Kong

    A floating book shop is coming to Hong Kong, and it’s a must-visit for all bookworms! Doulos Hope, the newest ship from GBA Ships, a German non-profit organisation that operates ships promoting international understanding through cultural exchange programmes, community service initiatives, and floating book fairs, is making its first visit to Hong Kong from 4-26 May.

    The Floating Book Fair will offer over 2,000 different books, covering a wide range of genres including novels, science, medicine, arts, languages, faith, hobbies, cooking, and sports. There will also be a selection of children’s titles, academic texts, dictionaries, and atlases, ensuring that the whole family can have a fantastic experience. All books available are in English and are sold at more affordable prices compared to the market rates. In addition to books, visitors will have the opportunity to browse and purchase various souvenirs and visit the cafe. And to interact with the ship’s crew, which consists of approximately 100 volunteers whose mission is to share knowledge, help others, and inspire hope.

    To visit the Floating Book Fair, advance tickets are required. Children under 12 (accompanied by an adult) and seniors over 65 can enter for free, but they still need to obtain their tickets. For all other visitors, there will be an entrance fee of HK$20, all visitors must present an identity card or proof of identification to board the ship.

    The Hong Kong Artistic Gymnastics and Ballet Academy is teaming up with the Hong Kong, China Federation Of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics and the Hong Kong Rhythmic Gymnastics Group to bring you SummerFest@WCHES to promote artistic gymnastics, aesthetics, gymnastics, and cross-media cultural arts.The event, which is held on Youth Day, will be jam-packed with captivating performances, thrilling competitions, and the chance to explore art and cultural booths.

    Team Lab Continuous

    Take a wander through Tamar Park and enter an awe-inspiring world of light, sound, and wonder thanks to the Team Lab: Continuous exhibit. It consists of two sets of artworks:  “Resonating Life which Continues to Stand” which features large luminous ovoids that are spread across the lawn and extend to the water of Victoria Harbour. When the ovoids come into contact with people, are blown by the wind or crashed against by waves, they standing tall but change colour. The other set of artwork, “Resonating Trees” sees the the surrounding trees lit up in various colours in response to the giant glowing ‘eggs’.

    The Ark Transformers

    Calling all Autobots and Decepticons, gear up for an electrifying celebration! In honour of The Ark’s first anniversary, the Transformers-themed restaurant is unveiling a menu that will transport your taste buds to Cybertron. Get ready to indulge in a fusion of intergalactic flavours and robot-inspired delicacies that will leave you craving more. But that’s not all! The Ark has a surprise for all Transformers fans. Brace yourselves to meet the iconic heroes, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, in the metal. Take epic photos with these legendary bots and share them on social media for a chance to win limited edition surprises. There will also be face-painting sessions where guests can have logos of “Autobot” and “Deception” painted onto their faces. Face Painting takes place 1, 5, 12, 19 May.

    Art Loop at Affordable Art Fair

    Featuring an impressive line-up of 97 galleries from around the globe, the Affordable Art Fair will showcase an extensive collection of wallet-friendly (ish!), diverse art treasures. But that’s not all. Get ready to delve into a world of creativity with mesmerising 3D murals, captivating live performances, captivating art workshops, and much more. The event is jam-packed with an exciting array of programmes to keep you engaged and inspired throughout your visit.

    For younger visitors – aged 4 to 12 years old – there are Art Loop Workshops which aim to foster their love for art. The Nature-inspired Chinese Contemporary Ink Workshop is a one-hour immersive art experience led by professional instructors from Art Loop. Inspired by the work of Taiwanese artist Huang Yongyu, the workshop allows participants to create their own masterpieces using paper and ink. Participants will tour the gallery booths and curated projects at the Affordable Art Fair, learning about the different styles, techniques, and artistic subjects of the exhibited artworks. Each workshop slot includes a tour t-shirt, tour book, all necessary art materials, and a guided fair tour. The workshops are offered on multiple days and times during the fair, with limited spaces available. Tickets can be purchased through the Eventbrite ticketing system when buying admission to the Affordable Art Fair.

    And while the kids are on the workshop parents can head to the Hong Kong-themed Speakeasy Bar to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails designed by Kiyoshi Hoshimi-Caines, former Head Sommelier of Yardbird and RŌNIN.

     

    The Soccer Sevens

    The HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and boasts an impressive lineup of competing teams, including academy teams from West Ham, Fulham, Newcastle United, Rangers, Leicester City and last year’s winners Aston Villa. In the past, the Masters Tournament has attracted players such as Peter Beardsley, John Barnes, Teddy Sheringham, Chris Waddle, Des Walker, Andy Cole and Matt Le Tissier. Attendees this year are still to be confirmed. Eight women’s teams from across Hong Kong and Macau will also go head-to-head in the inaugural women’s competition.

    School of Rock the Musical

    Based on the hit 2003 film starring Jack Black, School of Rock The Musical tells the story of Dewey Finn, a failed rock star who begins working as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Dewey soon discovers his students’ musical talents and decides to get them ready to compete in an upcoming Battle of the Bands contest.

    For the musical adaptation, world-renowned composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has created 14 brand new songs, including “You’re In The Band” and “Stick It To The Man.” The stage version also features all of the original songs from the beloved film.

     

    Hong Kong Ballet’s Swan Lake

    Swan Lake HK Ballet

    Get ready to be swept away by an enchanting ballet experience as Hong Kong Ballet presents the world premiere of a dazzling new production of Swan Lake. Choreographed by the talented Yuri Possokhov from San Francisco Ballet, this beloved classical ballet tells a timeless tale of good triumphing over evil.

    In this reimagined version, Prince Siegfried finds himself smitten with the gentle White Swan, Odette, during a chance encounter in the woods. Their love story becomes a thrilling race against time as they strive to break the curse cast by the wicked sorcerer Von Rothbart. But watch out for the cunning Black Swan, Odile, who tries to deceive them along the way!

    The performance is suitable for audiences aged 6 and above, so bring your family and friends along.
