    “Legend of Art and Love With You” Inclusive Market

    Dates: 2 – 3 March 2024
    Location: The Mills, (M/F The ANNEX),Tuen Wan

    The Salvation Army Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Service will hold the “Legend of Art and Love with You” inclusive market at Nan Fung Spinnery, Tsuen Wan. In addition to having a wonderful weekend together with “pet lovers”, they also hope to raise public attention and awareness of people with disabilities.
    The theme of this event is “Love with You”, which aims to raise awareness about caring for animals and building a society that cares for life, loves each other and is harmonious. In addition to taking the lead in selling the new “Love Pet” series of pet products (handmade by disabled trainees from The Salvation Army’s Comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Service), pet owners are invited to show off the new products on their pets and experience them on the catwalk.
    On the first day of the event, a launch ceremony and pet photography competition award ceremony will be held. Super dog trainer Mr. Eric Ko will present the awards. Pet beautician Mr. Lin Langxuan will share pet grooming and other experiences.

    Free Trial Drama Workshop

    Date: 3 March

    Faust International Youth Theatre is offering free Trial Drama Workshops for children aged 3 to 16 and Trial Musical Theatre Workshops for children aged 7 to 16. The Trial Workshops offer children a taste of the action-packed drama programmes, sharing the fun theatre activities and games from the term-time workshops.

     

    WILD: an Immersive Safari Experience at Illuminarium

    Experience an exhilarating, immersive safari adventure across Africa at Illuminarium, the immersive destination at Wynn Palace in Macau. “WILD: An Immersive Safari Experience” an all-new nature adventure. The 45-minute cinematic extravaganza features 47 species of exotic animals native to Africa. The multi-sensory experience is a majestic and interactive expedition across the wild savanna of Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania.

    Directed and produced by Radical Media, the team behind the award-winning movie Hamilton, “WILD” took two years to create. Talented filmmakers and technologists from the United States, United Kingdom and across Africa captured the wondrous African natural habitats from sunrise to sunset.

    The immersive show allows you to travel with the wildlife, hear the heavy steps of the elephant herds, move amongst graceful giraffes on the grasslands, encounter leopards, and even track the elusive African rhinoceros, one of the world’s most critically endangered species. Explore the wilderness like never before.

    Illuminarium at Wynn Palace is open from 11:00am to 7:00pm, Tuesday to Sunday. “WILD” first admission is at 3:15pm with last admission at 6:00pm.  Free admission is offered for children aged 3 or below.

    LIV Golf

    Date: 8 – 10 March

    There’s plenty of entertainment at the LIV Golf tournament taking place for the first time this year at Hong Kong Golf Club. Not only will you get to watch top players in live golf rounds, but there’s also live music and lots of fun activities for all ages. This event will feature top golfers like Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, and Talor Gooch.

    Check out the dedicated kids’ zone, golf-themed activities, and interactive challenges (like the Rugby ‘Perfect Pass’ challenge). Electronic music star Gryffin will take centre stage on March 9.


    Botticelli to Van Gogh: Masterpieces that shaped Western art history

    The Hong Kong Palace Museum presents “Botticelli to Van Gogh: Masterpieces that shaped Western art history.” This exhibition showcases 52 renowned paintings from London’s National Gallery, making their debut in Hong Kong. Families can explore influential artworks spanning 400 years by iconic artists like Raphael, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Monet. From Raphael’s “The Madonna and Child with the Infant Baptist” to Van Gogh’s lively “Long Grass with Butterflies,” the exhibition encompasses the Renaissance, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism eras, highlighting pioneering techniques. Engaging educational programs deepen visitors’ understanding of Western art and culture. Supported by the Mega Arts and Cultural Events Fund, this blockbuster exhibition is not influenced by the views of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s government. The “Botticelli to Van Gogh” exhibition offers an accessible and enriching experience for Hong Kong families, revealing the masterpieces that have shaped Western art history.

     

    A-Maze-ing Harbourfront

    A new event space has opened at Wan Chai Harbourfront, and this month it features the A-Maze-ing Harbourfront, featuring five unique mazes: Time Mazing – focused on light and shadow, Infinite Mirror Maze – designed with mirror reflections, Lost in the Woods – constructed with the use of bamboo elements, Light Box Maze – immersing individuals in a series of unique light boxes, and the eye-catching Air Maze – featuring inflatable obstacles and hidden passages specially designed for energetic children. Join the free A-Maze-ing Harbourfront Race Day on 17 March and complete missions for special gifts. 

    CoComelon Inflatable Fun

    Enjoy 3,000 sq. ft. of inflatable CoComelon fun this Easter at MCP Central.

    The inflatable playground is based on CoComelon’s MacDonald Farm and features three main play areas: a giant CoComelon Easter Egg Ball Pit, a 7-meter-tall Inflatable Slide, and an Apple Tossing Area. Visit on 31 March for a chance to meet CoComelon characters, including JJ and Cody.

    West Kowloon Fun Fest

    West Kowloon launches an annual family event – the WestK Fun Fest – an inclusive arts festival celebrating creativity and diversity. The three week-long festival offers a programme of free and ticketed participatory events by local and international artists, and is perfect for families.

    The event offers a range of exciting attractions. One of the highlights is Ephemeral, an award-winning, large-scale immersive art installation located along the Waterfront Promenade. Visitors have the opportunity to explore a world of giant, rainbow-hued bubbles and enjoy pop-up performances. Another featured attraction is the interactive multimedia children’s theatre, ZOOOM, which provides an engaging experience for young visitors. Additionally, there is the performance titled Little Thai Forever, which is inspired by the lives of the Thai community in Kowloon City. Attendees can also enjoy unique experiences such as the Hong Kong premieres of Pram People and 10-Minute Dance Parties. There is also an interactive play space with sound and light effects, hands-on xiqu workshops, storytelling, and many other engaging activities to enjoy.

    48th Hong Kong International Film Festival

    Date: 28 March – 8 April 2024

    Get ready for an incredible cinematic journey at the 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF48), where you’ll be treated to a selection of eight restored classics. The festival celebrates the beauty of cinema in all its forms, presenting a diverse range of films that span different eras, regions, genres, themes, and styles.

    One gem not to be missed is Ernst Lubitsch’s “Kohlhiesel’s Daughters,” a hilarious silent film that brings great literature to life in a Bavarian mountain setting. With Lubitsch’s sophisticated wit and exaggerated humour, this comedic masterpiece promises an enjoyable experience, made even better with live music accompaniment by the talented Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. Stanley Kubrick’s debut feature, “Fear and Desire,” is another must-see. Previously thought lost, the complete version of this visually powerful film will be screened, including previously edited footage. Other highlights include Jacques Rivette’s four-hour cinematic marvel, “L’Amour Fou,” Tewfik Saleh’s gripping drama, “The Dupes,” Michelangelo Antonioni’s “Il Grido” and Oliveira’s “Abraham’s Valley”.
