The 2023 Hong Kong Young Writers Award Ceremony took place on 22 March at Cyberport. The theme for this year’s competition was New Tales of Judge Pao.
Attended by shortlisted entries, winners, their parents and teachers, the event saw prestigious guests including Mr Philip Sohmen (31st descendant of Judge Pao) and Prof. Joost Schokkenbroek (Museum Director, Hong Kong Maritime Museum) and Eric Chan (Chief Public Mission Officer at Cyberport) hand out awards for 31 categories, including cover art and the main prize – the Hong Kong Young Writer 2023, which this year was won by 14 year old Astrid Chan who attends Diocesan Girls’ School.
